Vietnam’s abortion rates are the fifth highest in the world, with an estimated 300,000 cases every year among 15-19 year olds alone[1]. Earlier initiation of sexual activity, high rates of abortion and limited access to contraceptive choice, particularly for unmarried youth have created a significant need for improved, convenient access to and awareness of multiple contraceptive options. In this context, Center for Health Consultation and Community Development (CHD) will work in collaboration with an international NGO to implement a needs-assessment at the private clinics. The results of the assessment will be used to expand contraceptive choice by improving convenient access to historically underutilized methods through multiple private sector channels accessible to urban youth in Hanoi. The assessment will be conducted in five districts of Ha Noi in 2017.
