Continuing the Project opening workshop at Phu Yen, from March 02 – 07 the Project “Enhanced surveillance and operations research for malaria elimination in Vietnam 2014 – 2018” was implemented by the National Institute for Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology (NIMPE) collaborated with Center for Health Consultation and Community Development (CHD) and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) conducted a site visit at Huong Hoa district in Quang Tri province.
With the enthusiastic support of Quang Tri Provincial Preventive Medical Center and Huong Hoa Commune Medical Center, delegation visited and worked at Thanh commune, Xy commune and Ba Tang commune, three communes have high rate of malaria patient to conduct an assessment of equipment and village laboratory staffs’ capacity of malaria diagnostic. Moreover, delegation visited some malaria patients have been discharged to learn more about the cause, hot spot and habit of the people on how to prevent and eliminate malaria.
Besides, the project supports each village health center a microscope and a laptop to support the diagnosis of malaria and collect data. The project also planned for the advanced specialized training program for local health workers. This is the first activity of the project in action sequences to eliminate malaria from the locality.
