PLANNING WORKSHOP JOIN HANDS TO ELIMINATE MALARIA IN VIETNAM

The National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology (NIMPE) together with the center for Health Consultation; Community Development (CHD) and Heath Poverty Action (HPA) held a planning workshop project entitled “Malaria control for mobile and migrant population along the Cambodia –Vietnam border for period 2018-2020”. The project has been sponsored by Global fund through HPA organization, and is to be implemented from Jan, 01st 2018 – Dec, 31st  2020 in 153 villages in provinces of Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai, DakLak and DakNong

The workshop took place over two days from August 17-18, 2018 with the participation of 47 people from various stakeholders including, Province, district and commune health centres.

The results of the workshop were

  1. 100% Participants understand target, objective and work plan 2018-2020.
  2. 100% Participants understand cost norm and financial guidance.
  3. 100% Participants commit to implement all activities which is decentralized by levels and ensure information system between parties.

Beside of this, some difficulties/challenges were identified

  1. Large locality, sparse population density
  2. Low literacy
  3. Ethnic minority culture, custom and language
  4. People underestimate the risk of malaria
  5. Limited resources

All of the participants committed to collaborate strictly in designated activities of this project and ensure communication between different stakeholders to reduce malaria in this region.
